ABOUT YARDSMITH
Yardsmith has been providing Syracuse consumers quality Lawn Care and Snow Plowing and Snow Removal services in Syracuse and Central New York (CNY) since 1987. That longevity has taught us what it takes to get the job done: long hours and six-day work weeks. When mowing begins in the spring, 12- to 14- hour days of plowing snow during major snow storms, preventive maintenance on trucks and equipment and assisting our valued customers during storms, a 7-day week is common.
That's the hectic side of the lawn care and snow plowing business in Syracuse. On the slow side, it's mid-summer droughts when the grass stops growing or weeks between winter snowfalls.
Our loyal core staff, made up of permanent year-round employees is accustomed to the peaks and valleys of work demand and responds as needed. Our typical employee has experience from another lawn company and has been with Yardsmith for five years.
Employees are often reminded of the company slogan -- Your property, our pride. We respond to complaints, we don't ignore them. Employees have financial incentives to avoid causing complaints and every employee undergoes drug testing.
Yardsmith strives to offer the best overall value in grounds-keeping, lawn care, snow plowing and removal services in Syracuse, combining reliability, professionalism and fair pricing.
We appreciate your business and look forward to serving your Lawn Care and Snow Plowing needs.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
When does lawn mowing begin?
We usually begin mowing in the middle of April. It depends on when grass begins growing.
Are there any discounts for paying for lawn care or snow plowing services in advance?
If you pay for your lawn or snow contract in advance, you avoid the $3/month billing fee asssessed if you choose to pay for the service over several months.
Do you cut the same day every week?
Yes, unless we are delayed by rain or holidays.
When do I pay the bill and what forms of payment do you accept?
Statements are mailed the 1st of every month, with payment due upon receipt. A 1.5% finance charge is assessed on balances not paid by the 1st of the following month. At present, we accept payments by check only.
If I'm having a party or special event and I think we need the lawn mowed but you just mowed it recently, how can I schedule another mowing and how much does that cost?
It's best to call in advance and request that your regular mowing be postponed to your requested date. We may or may not be able to accommodate you, depending on our workload. A travel charge may be assessed if we are not normally working in your area on the day you request the special service.
Do you pick up branches and garbage while you're mowing my lawn?
Yes. An extra charge may be assessed if we pick up inordinate amounts of debris, as may occur after a windstorm or other unusual event.
Do you bag up the clippings from the lawn?
No. Yardsmith believes in "grasscycling," that is, leaving the clippings on the lawn. If your lawn is cut often enough (this usually means weekly), then the clippings will be fine enough to decompose into your lawn, providing nutrients to the grass.
Do you edge the sidewalks and driveways and does this cost extra?
Trimming back grass from the edges of sidewalks and driveways is part of the standard service and comes at no extra cost.
Do you pick up the leaves in the fall?
Yes, although our preferred means of dealing with leaves is to let the mowers chop them up.
When do you stop mowing our lawn?
Our mowing contracts end Oct. 31. This is usually late enough for your grass to have stopped growing. But we are available upon request if your lawn continues to need mowing in November.
What are the terms of the contract for snow plowing services?
Our snow contract has many details to it. Basically, once you sign up, our trucks come automatically after a snowfall of 2 inches or more.
Is it extra if I want salt put down when you do the snow plowing?
Yes. This is an extra service that should be ordered in advance.
How much do you charge to do sidewalks and steps?
Charges depend on the number of linear feet and steps.
If I'm not a steady customer of Yardsmith and I need to have my driveway plowed so I can get to work, can I just call you up and have you send someone over?
No. You need to be on our regular service list. We do not take on new clients during a snow event, but after that event has ended, we may be able to take your order for service the rest of the winter. However, our routes are usually filled up by the first part of December.
